SECTOR 02 · THE ENGINEER

One engineer. A wider range of skill than the title suggests.

Jan Lukas, long-term member of the pit crew in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, twelve years in karts before that. The technical side spans timing and telemetry, live-session support and bespoke software. Alongside it: budget and pricing modelling, event-operations planning, contracts and driver paperwork, and brand and content production, the parts of running a race team that rarely get named.

That range is what's on offer: not one tool, and not any single skill, but the ability to design, build and run the systems a racing operation needs.

SERVICES
// 01/04

Four service groups.

No fixed packages. Every engagement is scoped to the team, the groups define the work, not its limits.

// 01

Trackside & Race Weekend

For teams operating without an in-house data function at the circuit.

Live-timing feed integration and monitoring, WIGE/NLS, Al Kamel, GriiipLive
Pit-wall software, including live spreadsheet bridges built to the team's procedures
Live incident and flag monitoring
GPS track mapping
On-site presence across the full race weekend
// 02

Telemetry & Data Engineering

For teams that log data but lack the tooling to act on it between sessions.

MoTeC i2 Pro analysis: channels, workspaces, math channels
Channel and workspace builds configured to the team's cars and drivers
GPS and OBD-2 acquisition hardware where the car carries no logger
Working familiarity with ATLAS, AiM and Pi Toolbox
// 03

Software & Systems Build

For requirements no vendor covers.

Team software built to specification: dashboards, mobile applications, internal tooling
Reverse-engineering and integration of proprietary or undocumented timing and telemetry protocols, WIGE, Al Kamel, GriiipLive, MoTeC T2 live
Self-hosted infrastructure, the team owns what gets built
// 04

Season & Event Support

For teams that need this capability across the calendar, without a full-time hire.

Engaged per event, per block of events, or across a full season
Project- and deliverable-based throughout, never shifts or hours
Same tools, same engineer, every round
ENGAGEMENT STRUCTURE, HOW IT WORKS →
PROVEN WORK

Real engagements, generalised.

Generalised where a team's own operational details need to stay private. The situations, the actions and the outcomes are real.

FINANCIAL MODELLING

A season's cost and pricing model, rebuilt from a spreadsheet into a live system

SITUATIONA team's full-season cost and pricing model lived in a spreadsheet nobody fully trusted, rebuilt by hand before every quote. ACTIONReplaced with a live, self-checking cost model, per-event cost buildup, margin and markup handling, and base/conservative/optimistic scenario comparison. OUTCOMEA figure the team could quote from directly, recalculated live, with no separate manual check needed.
EVENT OPERATIONS

A full multi-role race-weekend operation, planned and documented

SITUATIONAn endurance programme running a full race weekend without a written plan covering every function on site. ACTIONBuilt role-by-role checklists across technical, strategy, mechanical, hospitality and safety functions, a master runsheet, and personnel and documents tracking. OUTCOMEEvery function on site working from the same plan, with nothing left to memory.
TRACKSIDE & RACE WEEKEND

A live scoring fault, caught and corrected mid-race

SITUATIONMid-race, the live timing feed reported a session state that the team's strategy call depended on, and it was wrong. ACTIONCaught and verified against the raw feed in real time, corrected on the pit-wall screens. OUTCOMEThe corrected call reached the pit wall before it cost track position.
PEOPLE & CONTRACTS

A season's HR and contract paperwork, put on a proper footing

SITUATIONA team fielding paid and reserve drivers with none of the underlying agreements formally written down. ACTIONDrafted driver and freelance-services agreements, medical/liability and emergency-info forms, and media releases. OUTCOMEA season run on paperwork that actually existed, not verbal agreement.
ABOUT

Jan Lukas.

Long-term member of the pit crew in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, twelve years in karts before that. Everything else on this site, the systems, the paperwork, the pricing, the data, was built alongside that, out of necessity, one race weekend at a time.

HOW IT WORKS

Scoped to the team. Every time.

// SHAPESFOUR ENGAGEMENT SHAPES
A single event
One race weekend, end to end, from setup before first practice to debrief after the flag.
A block of events
A run of rounds, same tools, same engineer, continuity carried between events.
A full season
Embedded support across the calendar, the operational and technical load, handled.
Off-track project work
Builds, integrations and system work delivered between events.
// PROCESSTHE PROCESS
01 Conversation, what the team needs, in plain terms.
02 Scoping, a written outline of what will be delivered.
03 Agreement, scope, timeline and terms, agreed directly.
04 Delivery, the work, with the team owning what gets built.
Every engagement is scoped and quoted directly, per team. Not because the terms are a secret, because a full endurance season and a single test day are not the same job, and neither is any two teams' calendar. START THE CONVERSATION →
